~ Saskatchewan Sidelines 7-25-09
Well, as most can tell I was a little off on my prediction on the score. Although in the first half it was looking promising. It was a wonderful game with wonderful weather and amazing seats. Row 1, Section 7, seats 13 & 14 does not get much better than that. The Roughriders looked amazing in the first half and stunk the second half. By the time the crowd and players got back into the game it was too little too late as the Eskimos had just enough to keep the lead. There were a couple of questionable calls, but I have to agree with Durant in the post game press conference in that it should have never gotten to that point. The Roughriders have to find a way to finish the game and keep momentum when the second half rolls around. Hopefully, they will find a way to do that come August 1st when they head to Calgary in hopes of maintaining the lead in the West.
All in all though, many good things came out of the game. We got to meet Maureen Miller, the head coaches wife, we had great seats, we were on television across Canada, and we were able to make a connection to possibly do some charity work whenever we are back in the Saskatchewan / Moose Jaw area. I really cannot emphasize how much Maureen does for Saskatchewan and its people. She is truly a saint among us and I hope the Saskatchewan fans realize how great of an ambassador she is for their football team.

~ Ray Elgaard (#81) @ halftime 7-25-09
Funny little aside about Ray Elgaard. He was on my flight from Denver to Regina and actually sat right behind me on the plane. It was quite a shock to find out that I sat right in front of one of the best the 89 Rider squad had to offer and had no clue at the time. I have only been a Rider fan for a year so I had no idea, but I am sure any true Rider fan is kicking the monitor down the stairs because I talked to him and thought he was just a fan of them and had no clue he actually was a hall of fame player. Guess live and learn applies here but that opportunity will probably never happen again. The best part of sitting right in front of him was when we landed and he said “Touchdown Riders!” maybe that should have been a hint.
