~ Meat and Cheese Special Delivery from Scott and Kerri Brehm
This came about a week before Christmas and was a pleasant surprise. The cheese was quite decent and the meat was very good. However, it really meant something a bit more than that to me. See, Scott and I grew up together, but not really together. He was about six years older than me and was one of four children in his family. His mom and my mom were pretty decent friends so I would sometimes hang out with them over at their house. Their house was where I first got interested in video games, they had an Atari!! I miss those days of just playing football in the yard with them and being able to not worry about anything.
Scott has always been there for me and I have tried as best as I could to be there for him. He used to come to my high school football games and make certain to tell me all the things that I did wrong. He would sometimes come to baseball games as well. He was a great friend, but as soon as I left for college we started to lose touch. It is really sad how moving can take its toll on a friendship. I know Jen and Christina know what I am talking about. Anyway, it was just very special to see that Scott was still thinking about me on that pre-Christmas day. It is really special to have people that may lose touch with you but still think about you enough to care to send you something once in awhile.
I always told Scott that when I got my restaurant going that I wanted him to be the manager of the place. He used to run a liquor store and I think he would do a great job. He has said he will take it whenever I am ready. I hope we can remain as close as we have been and that maybe someday we will once again live in the same place. But until then, we will continue to text once in awhile and send each other a surprise here and there. Try to keep those close friends as close to your heart as possible because once they are gone it is very tough to get re-connected.
