~ CN Tower and RBC Bank, Toronto 1-3-09
The Centre (AKA Center) of the universe was pretty bright as many in Saskatchewan would imply. The pride of the city and its people was somewhat overwhelming. However, it was nice to see a big city take some pride in itself instead of everyone everywhere being simply focused on themselves. It puts Chicago and Denver to shame in terms of friendly people.
I am slightly late in getting this post up, but as Jen would tell me better late than never. We have been on a whirlwind of flights and it is currently 11:45 p.m. in Nevis, but I felt like I had to share my experience in Toronto.
It really was a wonderful city, at least in the downtown area that we were in. I got to see the subway, the Air Canada Center, the Rogers Center, the CN Tower, the Eaton Shopping Center, the Delta Chelsea and got to eat at my favorite place (Chipotle’). All in all it was a wonderful trip. I really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere even in the big city. This was excluding the Eaton Shopping experience where I had to follow Jen with all the bags and kept getting run into by everyone that thought they were in a bigger hurry than everyone else. The carrying the bag thing was not due to Jen “making” me carry them either. I offered, except I did not realize the insane amount of people that was out that day.
We did not make it to Ottawa, sorry Kev, or much outside of Toronto! However, as Sarah would say: “Toronto is the centre of Canada anyway!”, or capital or something like that : P I got a great shot glass for my bar I plan to own someday of the CN Tower and also one at the airport with the mounties on it.
Speaking of, this picture is as close as I got to taking a picture with a real mounty. I was very, very sad : (

I cannot wait to give Toronto yet another shot to impress me. I think it really made an impression on Jen as well, even though she had already been there! It was only 24 hours, but what a great 24 hours!
A couple more pictures from the 24 power hours!

oh yay! I’m glad you liked Toronto, however I had to laugh at your impression of it being so friendly. Try taking the subway or driving everyday, and you might get a different idea..
It was fun seeing pictures of you guys out and about (yes I said out and about) my stomping grounds. My school is about 2 blocks away from the eaton centre, so I’m there quite frequently…it’s a horrible mall. I haven’t been to the CN tower since I was a wee girl, but now I want to go back up..actually i spent a New Years eve at the 360 restaurant, what a ripoff! funnily (i know that’s not a word) enough, when you were in canada, I was in america! While in niagara falls on saturday I walked across the bridge into buffalo! It wasn’t all that exciting, but i ended up taking a cab to the outlet mall and discussing the virtues of Tim Hortons with the cab driver for the entire trip.
Well, enjoy fun school time, and don’t even think of complaining about the heat over there, cause then I’d have to kill you. And just one more thing..where are my fuzzy peaches?!?!?!?!

it was a great trip and a fully Canadian experience, complete with a junior hockey game on the TV in the bar.
as the most American city in all of Canada, i figured if there was any place that might have a Chipotle — it would be Toronto. and voila! just 2 blocks from our hotel. too perfect!
great photos. i’m so glad you’re wearing your Rider pride in that Argo town.

You went to all those centres and yet still spell it center. *rollseyes* :p (to be honest, the English/Canadian spelling is silly).
I’ve seen so many photos of tourists stood with, hugging and kissing that Bear Mountie. Glad you didn’t disappoint by passing it by. If I ever get to Canada I’ll expect Sarah to take me there and we’ll do our own pose… with fuzzy peaches of course.
